Concept Art: Sector Xion

Holotype XVII has been banned in all the prefectures of NueyenXelta. Yet the demand for it has only increased. The only place one may still purchase the contraband is in the back alleys of Sector Xion. In the daylight the place looks like any other rundown and forgotten slum. But with the dark comes the Neons. A den for the smugglers of all of NueyenXelta. It is the home to the DreamAlters and VapourSons.

After the gas fields of Downwin died out, the chambers of Sector Xion was decommissioned. It turned into a ghost town. Until the Neons took over.

Concept Art: NaturesRevenge

‘Destiny’ lands at NaturesRevenge. The talks between the high priests of Arahat and NueyerZelta has commenced after 10 years of NoApproach.

Fundamentally they both differ in their worldview but the war of the NeonGuards have brought them together. A pact must be forged. After the crash of the Grid Xeon and the decimation of the Mainframe, the people of Arahat refused technology and regressed back to their forests. While NueyerZelta heralded into a new era of technological advances and sophisticated weaponry. The war has brought the ancient friends back again. The twain must meet to survive.

An idea is the initial spark. It is the primordial seed. It is the birth of a future. A world that will establish itself and create rules of its own. It is the first step into the brave new world.

An idea is derived out of a vision. Not like the ones that the charlatans profess. A vision is ones interaction with an universe that doesn’t exist yet. A leap of faith, maybe. And an idea comes into life.

Like the oldest story ever heard, it is the big bang. It is the birth of a system. The source of energy and direction. An idea is the star around which all the elements rotate.

What is Character Designing?

They say that a picture tells a thousand words. But then that is just a conservative estimate.

A character is not a static design. It is a dynamic entity. A character is a multi-dimensional figure hiding in the garb of a 2D depiction. It portrays depth, timeline and interaction. A character is a persona. A character has life. A character is his/her/its own story.

A good character design narrates fascinating tales. It depicts attitude, poses, body language and emotions. It relays its existence. It doesn’t just sit there like a slob waiting to be dumped on animation. Animation only gives wings to the flight that is already infused in the character. A good character has a past, a present and a future. Its existence is encoded in its design. A good character design builds an environment. A character doesn’t float in vacuum. It exists with interactive elements. It has a home and a world.

A good character design creates a language. It builds the DNA. It breeds movement. Only then can a character evolve.

Concept Art: Ship Erebus

Reality is a construct and we are the master constructors. Our ever shifting reality is also our ever evading magnum opus. When finally our dream on Earth broke, we woke up in the womb of Ship Erebus.

The Early Risers invoked the Code of Tabula Rasa. To protect the space civilization from the disease of melancholia, a clean stale was infused. All memory of the dream was erased. Earth was abolished. Human life as we once knew was denied existence and quietly forgotten. Ship Erebus is the only valid reality now. Many call it the Cavity. A never-ending elongated space surrounded on the four sides by the ship. Erebus is our world and our only home.

Visualizing Alcott: Visual Art

Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist and poet best known as the author of the novel Little Women (1868). Raised by her transcendentalist parents in New England, she grew up among many of the well-known intellectuals of the day such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau.

What is Illustration?

The term ‘illustration‘ comes from the Latin word illustra’tio, illu’stro meaning enlighten, irradiate. In sense it an attempt at provocation. It is an invitation to an another world. A world twice removed from reality. It is at the same time real and unreal. Sometimes it triggers a memory and at other times it takes one on a trip to building newer ships to sail to brave new worlds. It is a story delineated in lines. It is a tale of the known and the unknown, the familiar and the strange.

Illustration illuminates. It enlightens.

The Study of Anatomy

Imagine learning mathematics without learning the multiplication tables. Imagine learning chemistry without the periodic tables. The same goes for learning drawing. The figures that your sketch are based on an internal coherence. The external progression is an extension of the internal structure. An architect can not build a monument without an inherent structure. A novelist can not create worlds without grammar. Such is the importance of the study of anatomy to an artist of the living forms and even non-living forms.

Anatomy is an universal language. It is the base and the logic to the external celebration. It is the meaning to the movement and the expression. It is the energy in the figure.
