The Storyboard for “Live More with Neropure” Video

Client: Neropure | Motto: Live More
Product: Stainless steel water tanks
Target: Institutions, schools, hotels, hospitals and homes
Clientele: Shiv Nadar School, Indiabulls, DLF, CK Birla Hospital, Radisson, Ramada, Uppal’s and et cetera.

The initial frames foregrounds the importance of the motto “live more” by depicting different scenarios where people are ‘living it up’. Moving forward it showcases how Neropure fulfills the motto by focusing on the three aspects of ‘health’, ‘comfort’ and ‘ease’ idealised within the images of drops of water. The next frame equates quality of life with water. After a technical know-how about the stainless steel tanks, the storyboard ends with a glimpse of the brand’s clientele.

The Importance of a Storyboard

A STORYBOARD is a consolidation of the various aspects of the concept. It is the fable depicted in frames. The concept that was revolving in imaginary worlds is now given a lineal story line to inhabit. The characters which were created with  inherent movement have now taken a path to express.

A storyboard is a sequence of illustrations with intended dialogues and direction. A storyboard is the master plan. It is the blueprint. It is the stage where each feather of the wing is put into its place.

Step Three: Storyboard

THE PROCESS OF CREATION: Idea> Concept & Character Design> Storyboard> Script & Voice Over> Animation

At Brainpan Studio, our visual artist builds the grid, elaborating the concept into a fascinating tale. At this stage, the characters mingle with the concept. The blood in infused and a brave new world comes into light.

Step Two: Concept + Character Design

THE PROCESS OF CREATION: Idea> Concept & Character Design> Storyboard> Script & Voice Over> Animation

A CONCEPT is the realisation of the idea. It is the skin and bones of the initial spark. It is the elaborate costume that the idea adorns to convey its distinct meaning. A concept is the fulfillment of the vision that the idea professed.

A concept is not a wild goose chase. It is distinct. It is eloquent. It is significant. And it is relevant. A concept is an proverbial ark that rides the wave and saves the day.

A CHARACTER DESIGN narrates fascinating tales. It depicts attitude, poses, body language and emotions. It relays its existence. A good character has a past, a present and a future. Its existence is encoded in its design. A character design builds an environment.

A character design creates a language. It builds the DNA. It breeds movement.

At Brainpan Studio, we clothe the idea into concept. The characters are designed to breed in this ideal world. The concept through these characters build an universe for the audience to interact. These are the building blocks to the universe that has just burst into existence.

What is Character Designing?

They say that a picture tells a thousand words. But then that is just a conservative estimate.

A character is not a static design. It is a dynamic entity. A character is a multi-dimensional figure hiding in the garb of a 2D depiction. It portrays depth, timetime and interaction. A character is a persona. A character has life. A character is his/her/its own story.

A good character design narrates fascinating tales. It depicts attitude, poses, body language and emotions. It relays its existence. It doesn’t just sit there like a slob waiting to be dumped on animation. Animation only gives wings to the flight that is already infused in the character. A good character has a past, a present and a future. Its existence is encoded in its design. A good character design builds an environment. A character doesn’t float in vacuum. It exists with interactive elements. It has a home and a world.

A good character design creates a language. It builds the DNA. It breeds movement. Only then can a character evolve. Or we are just hauling dead fish to the flee market.

Thursday Morning at the Studio

The workflow at the studio is quite elaborate yet it works seamlessly because of our understanding of each others’ strengths and weaknesses, our mental stamina and our building blocks. No member is an island. No idea is ignored.

The process:

The creative director comes up with the concept and frames the dialogues.

The graphic artist designs the characters and draws up the storyboard.

The script is sent to the voice over artist.

The animator breathes in the magic portion.

Life infused.

The notable musician and friend from the Jazz-funk quartet “Afterglow”, Shivam joins us at the studio on his birthday. Making music is much more than just playing the instrument. A musician must take part in all aspects of the journey of creation and dissemination. A music video is a child nurtured.

Shivam puts on his producer’s cap to give us feedback on Afterglow’s upcoming music videos.

Adventure of Baba Toon in Funky Town

Last time when Baba Toon graced us with his presence, he told us about the mystical process of animation. He guided us through the mystery of motion graphics and then blessed us with the secret tools of the trade.

After a month on the spiraling clouds and meditating on the moving peaks, he is back in the funky town. This time, he carries his bag of ideas to enlighten us about the need of animation in this mortal world. Join us as we wonder and wander with Baba Toon.

Watch this adorable whiteboard animation showing the “Adventure of Baba Toon in the Funky Town“. Feedback needed to feed the Pandoras.
